HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania voters returned a solid Republican majority to the state Senate in Tuesday’s General Election, re-electing all Republican incumbents and sending five new Republican senators to Harrisburg.
“Senate Republicans’ success at the ballot box on Tuesday demonstrates that Pennsylvanians still believe in our mission of fighting against higher taxes and promoting safer communities,” said Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman (R-34). “I congratulate my colleagues for their hard-fought wins in every corner of the state.”
“Throughout the past two years, the Senate Republican Caucus has put the priorities of Pennsylvanians at the forefront of all decisions. The reelection of our caucus members is reflective of their efforts to ensure Pennsylvanians have the freedom and confidence to move forward by allowing them to take back their lives and rise above the experiences of the past several years,” said Senate Majority Leader Kim Ward (R-39). “To our new caucus members, we will continue to build on our gains and work diligently alongside you to build a more prosperous Pennsylvania for all.”
Senate Republicans will hold a 28-22 majority in the 2023-24 legislative session. The following Republican senators were re-elected to newly drawn districts created following redistricting:
- Sen. Ryan Aument (R-36), representing northern Lancaster County.
- Sen. Lisa Baker (R-20), representing Susquehanna, Wyoming and Pike counties and parts of Luzerne and Wayne counties.
- Sen. Camera Bartolotta (R-46), representing Greene and Washington counties and part of Beaver County.
- Sen. Michele Brooks (R-50), representing Crawford and Mercer counties and part of Lawrence County.
- Sen. Chris Gebhard (R-48), representing Lebanon County and parts of Berks and Lancaster counties.
- Sen. Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-28), representing southern York County.
- Sen. Pat Stefano (R-32), representing Bedford, Fayette and Somerset counties.
- Sen. Judy Ward (R-30), representing Blair, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata and Mifflin counties.
In addition, voters elected the following five new Republican senators.
Sen.-elect Rosemary Brown was elected in the 40th Senate District, covering Monroe County and parts of Wayne and Lackawanna counties. She currently represents the 189th District in the House of Representatives after a career in the private sector.
Sen.-elect Jarrett Coleman was elected in the 16th Senate District, which includes portions of Lehigh and Bucks counties. He is an airline pilot and a member of the Parkland School Board.
Sen.-elect Frank Farry was elected in the 6th Senate District, which covers a portion of Bucks County. He currently represents the 142nd District in the House of Representatives, is fire chief of the volunteer Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company and is an attorney at the law firm of Begley, Carlin & Mandio.
Sen.-elect Tracy Pennycuick was elected in the 24th Senate District, which includes portions of Berks and Montgomery counties. She currently represents the 147th District in the House of Representatives. She is a United States Army combat veteran and has been a successful small business owner.
Sen.-elect Greg Rothman was elected in the 34th Senate District covering Perry County, most of Cumberland County and northern Dauphin County. He currently represents the 87th District in the House of Representatives. Prior to public and his real estate career, he served in the United States Marine Corps.
Newly elected senators will be sworn into office to begin their four-year term on Jan. 3, 2023.
