Robinson Honors 20th Anniversary of Operation Iraqi Freedom

HARRISBURG – Sen. Devlin Robinson (R-37) introduced to the Senate today, along with his colleagues, Sens. Ryan Aument (R-36), Tracy Pennycuick (R-24) and Doug Mastriano (R-33), a resolution honoring the 20th anniversary of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

In 2003, the United States and coalition forces began the mission to liberate Iraq from dictator Saddam Hussein and extend freedom and democracy throughout the region. On March 20, 2003, the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom was marked with airstrikes on Saddam Hussein’s presidential palace.

“I served in Operation Iraqi Freedom alongside some of the bravest men and women of our Commonwealth. Thousands of Pennsylvania military men and women made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in this operation,” Robinson said. “On this anniversary, I urge Pennsylvanians to remember these brave soldiers who served their missions with excellence, determination and patriotism.”

Operation Iraqi Freedom ended on Dec. 15, 2011.
