Robinson Reappointed to Boards to Support Veterans and Businesses in Western Pennsylvania

HARRISBURG – Sen. Devlin Robinson (R-37) will continue his work to support veterans and maximize the commercial use of Pennsylvania waterways following his reappointment to the Advisory Council for the Southwestern Veterans’ Center and the Port of Pittsburgh Commission.

Senate President Pro Tempore Kim Ward (R-39) appointed Robinson to both boards after considering his interest and advocacy for the region’s veterans and economy.

Each state veterans’ home is overseen by an advisory council of 15 members and the adjutant general. Council members advise the adjutant general about the management, operation and adequacy of facilities and services.

“I am glad to continue the opportunity to support our veterans,” Robinson said. “Caring for Pennsylvania’s heroes is a duty I take very seriously, and I look forward to working with the Southwestern Veterans’ Center as they continue their noble work of giving them the care they deserve.”

Robinson’s second reappointment will help strengthen our region’s economy, particularly in the southwestern part of the state.

The Port of Pittsburgh Commission connects businesses and enterprises with local, state and federal funding to further commercial use of the region’s waterways. In western Pennsylvania, the Port District covers 13 counties and more than 200 miles of commercially navigable waterways.

“I appreciate the reappointment to the Port of Pittsburgh Commission to help ensure western Pennsylvania’s waterways are well equipped and well supported to keep our economy thriving,” Robinson said.

Fifteen people serve on the commission, including four legislative appointees and 11 appointees chosen by the governor.

Both board appointments expire on Nov. 30, 2026.
