HARRISBURG – The House of Representatives approved Sen. Devlin Robinson’s (R-37) legislation this week to enhance Pennsylvania’s manufacturing industry.
Senate Bill 497 would establish the Max Manufacturing Initiative Act, offering grants and loans to eligible applicants in advanced manufacturing. This field uses innovative technologies to develop and improve products across various industries. The act enables state-related universities across the commonwealth to collaborate with engineering firms to enhance research, foster business partnerships, produce high-value products and create well-paying jobs.
“Advanced manufacturing is the backbone of Pennsylvania’s economy, driving innovation, sustainability and global competitiveness,” Robinson said. “By embracing cutting-edge technologies and processes, we are not only preserving our rich industrial heritage but also paving the way for a future of economic growth and job creation.”
The manufacturing industry in the United States produces more than $4 trillion dollars annually. Pennsylvania has a robust manufacturing sector, employing more than 564,700 residents – nearly 10% of all jobs in Pennsylvania.
“Pennsylvania is not just manufacturing products – it’s manufacturing the future,” Robinson said.
The bill now heads to the governor for his consideration.
